Camel Riding

My ass hurts.

Camels are very tall, and move very strangely.  When you get on, they're sitting on the ground. There are two saddles on each camel, and you put a sheepskin over the saddle. You put your leg in the stirrup and hop on. The camel doesn't like this part so it makes a big loud noise. This is scary. The camel's reigns are attached by a thick peg through their nose. You can't put them in their mouth because they chew all the time. The piercing hurts to be put in, but it heals and they are used to it. Our camel was named Scruffy. When we met Scruffy he was sleeping and did not enjoy being disturbed, but otherwise he was a happy camel. He was very tall, which was scary, I didn't want him to get scared or jump because it would be too easy to fall off. The ride isn't very smooth. I heard it's different from a horse because you can't sit still, you have to move with the camel, which can chafe. Anyways, we had an hour long ride up the river, across the river and back down. Whenever we stopped Scruffy decided to sniff around the camel in front of us genital region and bite his leg affectionately. This scared me because I didn't want the other camel to freak out. We went and had breakfast after the ride (bacon and eggs) and then we went to the camel museum. Ooh. I watched a video of a camel being born and how they have to survive. It was interesting.

All in all, it was a fun trip (even if I had to wake up at 545am) and I hope my bum heals soon because it is hard to sit.
